J. Clyde Smith, 70, former resident of this city, died Monday morning at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Rosa, Calif., after an illness of 15 years. Mr. Smith was born in Monroe County, W.Va., the son of Mack and Lula Smith. He moved to this county with his parents in 1910 and lived here for 20 years before going to California. He was married to Marie Broaders of Crawfordsville. The survivors include the widow; two sons, David and Rex; an adopted son, Jerry; a brother, W. L. Smith, who lives south of here on U. S. 231, and two sisters, Mrs. Bernard Smith and Mrs. Bessie Bridgood, who live on the Lafayette Road. Funeral services and burial will take place Thursday at Santa Rosa. – jlr
